About our club...
The saddle club was founded in 1946 by Kay McElroy and has since developed into one of the best riding clubs in Northern Colorado. The club hosts at least eight English Western and Gymkhana shows a year. Contestants travel from throughout Colorado, with some coming from as far as Wyoming and Nebraska, to compete in classes from ages 5 and under to ages 40 and over.
The saddle club has seen many kids train throughout the summer in preparation for County Fairs, high school rodeos, college rodeos, and some even reaching the goal of competing in the professional rodeo circuit. Members have also trained at the saddle club preparing for entering world shows such as the World Paint Show and the Quarter Horse World Show.
The Royalty Program for the Greeley Saddle Club was added in 1978. It has been a positive influence in the lives of more than 100 girls who have competed for the titles of queen, attendant and princess. Many girls have gone on with Royalty to hold county and even state titles. Cathy Moore took over the Royalty Program in 1983 and has had the privilege of working with these young ladies helping them to fulfill their dreams and goals.
